Iraq likes Iran street theater in Kurdish

Iranian street theater troupe ‘Anahita’ has performed for people in Iraq, grabbing a great deal of attention.

Anahita troupe hailing from Iran Kurdistan Province wrapped up street performances Monday after 5 days of showcasing art to Iraqi audiences eagerly coming to watch the shows.

At the invitation of Iran Consulate General, the group performed in some of Iraqi cities such as Erbil and Sulaymaniyah.

An official from the Consulate General told local media the play performed by the troupe "was at helm of Alireza Esmaeili," adding the theme was dedicated to human interaction which was performed in the Kurdish language within various public spaces.

Kurds in Iran are Iranians of Kurdish ethnicity, many of whom speak Kurdish as their first language. The Kurds are one of largest ethnic groups in Iran. The country has border crossings with Iraq's Kurdish region.
